Sanskrit Khandkavyas of K. Sambhusarma on Indian Freedom Struggle

When we think of the renaissance and also the Indian freedom movement, which is the culmination of the Indian renaissance, we can see that Sanskrit has played a silent but significant role in shaping the ideals of Indian Nationalism. Indian renaissance and struggle for the establishment of an Independent society owe its origin to the inspiration from Sanskrit and its allied cultural heritage. The two Khandakavyas was written by Sambhu Sarma clearly illustrate the high potentialities of the Sanskrit Language in enlightening the masses with the divine endeavor. Awakening the past through glowing images is the main achievement of the poet. It is not done to revive the ghosts of the past in a new guise, but to enable the modern man to make a real assessment of our past and to impress upon the reader the necessity for unity. The poet projects the secular aspects of the Indian tradition and highlights the concept of patriotism and national integration. It also reveals the wonderful potentialities that classical Sanskrit has, as a vehicle of modern poetry with a serious purpose and governed by a modern outlook. The historical events of the Indian freedom movement, which unfolded through the medium of Sanskrit language, which has already attained the status of a national and international scholar’s language, thus gets its entrance into international cultural history.
